I just want to acknowledge a couple of milestones from last week.

March 21 - 12 years since Jeff and I had our first date
March 22 - 18th week...heading into the 5th month of pregnancy

Thanks goodness for that date in 1999. Without it we wouldn't be entering this fifth month. Love you Jeff!

Place Your Bets!

What is in there?? Boy or girl? Girl or boy? If Baby BH cooperates, we'll answer this mystery tomorrow after our ultrasound. So this is your last your bets, people!

Baby belly and my first maternity clothes

Here's a baby bump picture with some attitude. Check it! What do you think about that? :) I'm not really getting a bump like you see all the movie stars sporting. I'm getting thick in the trucnk, don't you think? Although I'm not wishing to get too large too early, but I don't think I'll mind when things bubble out.

To accommodate my growing trunk, I've had to get my first couple of pieces of maternity clothes. My college BFF was so sweet and sent me a box of some of her maternity clothes. There is one pair of jeans in particular I'm getting some serious use out of. Most of the maternity tops are still too big for me, so getting some shirts that are a size larger has been helpful. It's an interesting experience, trying on maternity clothes. I especially like the faux belly to try on. It's interesting to get an idea of what I'll look like the further along I get.

Here's a pic in my first fancy maternity dress. Jeff and I went to our cousin's wedding so we had to look super cute! I'll also be wearing the dress next month at the LeaderShape Institute's 25th Anniversary Gala. It has room for growing so it'll still look nice the next time I wear it.

This may not be the last cute clothing pic I post. I do love clothes and may showcase them here. :)

Taste Buds and the Super Sniffer

Over the past few months I've had some cravings. They haven't been the "I have to eat this" craving, rather a "this is the only thing that sounds good" craving. So far there has been...

Oranges-I was eating at least 4 a day for the first 2-3 months
Hummus and crackers-lunch and dinner
Cereal-Cheerios, of course
Potatoes-any and all! Tots, mashed, boiled, fried...
Smoothies-made at home and Smoothie King's Grape Expectations 2
Potatoes-can you ever get enough? Apparently I cannot.
Chocolate almond milk-refreshing and sweet
Pizza-what I really want is a forreal cheesey pizza. What I've had is vegan pizza. Good enough but not like the pizza my dad gets up in NY.
Ezekial bagels with tofutti cream cheese and facon-I ate these everyday for breakfast for a week and bought more today

So nothing really weird, but when something sounds good to me, that is all I want to eat.

As a girl who likes her food, it's strange to not like certain things. Who knew I could not be in the mood for some kind of food! :) My sense of smell was also off the charts. Jeff called me the super-sniffer.

Vegetables-as a vegetarian, this was a bit of a challenge. Ok, quite a challenge. Specifically I had issues with:
Broccoli-this has made me very sad because broccoli is my favorite vegetable
Salads- It took almost 3 months to eat one without wanting to hurl.

I'm better with most veggies now, but the only form I can eat broccoli is a la the chinese take-out place.

Air freshener was also an issue as it made my nose feel like it was on fire. On. fire.

So that's the scoop on cravings and sensitivities. All manageable but an occasional challenge for Jeff who is the chef of the house.
