It's not polite to point!

Hi there, folks! I'll be back later in the week to dish about my super fun baby shower and pregnancy photo experiences, but for now I wanted to share a couple of pictures that made me laugh. The first is from yesterday...the last day of my 7th month. Notice the pointy baby belly. She was sticking something out there! The second is today, the first day of my 8th month. Baby Girl BH was rounded out. The difference makes me giggle.

Family Visits - Part 2

Over the weekend we had the chance to hang with my Daddy-O. He got to see the sprawling corn fields and check out our digs.

As it was his first visit to Cham-bana, we gave him the grand tour of town and introduced him to a couple of the local hot-spots, such as Jarling's Custard Cup and Papa Del's Pizza. He also got to join us for our Saturday morning tradition of going to the Urbana Farmer's Market.

We also headed to Normal, IL for a CornBelters baseball game. Yup, the CornBelters. You can check out their mascot, CornySaurus (seriously, a dinosaur looking thing with corn silk hair), by going to http://www.normalbaseball.com/. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday night, especially with the gorgeous weather and great seats.

It's really fun for us to have our family's visit for many reasons, but certainly a big one is so they can see what our lives are like out here in Illinois.

30w4d

We hit the 30 week mark this week. Only 10 more to go! Can you believe it?!? Here are some stats for you to enjoy:

Pounds gained: 23
Cravings: These have really settled down. I am pretty into lemonade and limeade though. Sadly, these drinks also give me wicked heart burn. *womp womp*
Movements: I'm experiencing a lot more rolls and general moving around and less jab-like action. It's also pretty clear by looking at and touching my belly where Baby Girl BH has situated herself. These days she spends much of her time on the right side.
Sleep: This is starting to change a little bit. I'm waking up much more now and it takes some time to get settled and comfortable when going to bed.
What I miss: I haven't really felt a tug toward things that are no longer in my diet, however Jeff did bring home some Summer Ciders last week. Do they look refreshing!
Overall feelings: I am still doing pretty well with the energy level, however my belly and back are starting to feel a little tired and sore from time-to-time. HOWEVER, you can see from below, I haven't lost my sense of fun. :)

Family Visits - Part 1

Last weekend my mom came to visit. We had a great time doing fun things to get ready for Baby Girl BH. If you know my mom, then you know we did some shopping. Quality mother-daughter time, right? :) It was so fun to be shopping for baby. From baby wraps to cloth diapers to books, we had a great time getting some of the necessities (yes, books are necessities!).

We also spent some time organizing the baby's room. That was really a lot of fun. Jeff had put together a new bookcase so he spent time organizing the toys and books on that while mom and I snipped tags off of clothes and organized them by size and type. We also spent some of that time gushing over how cute little baby clothes are.

It's so fun to start sharing these moments with our family. We have more family time coming up, so expect some more family fun posts!

10 years since Vegas

Jeff and I celebrated 10 year of wedded bliss on June 9! We are lucky, lucky people to have each other and to be welcoming a little girl into our lives. We went out for a nice dinner and then just enjoyed each others company without phones, tv, work, interruptions, etc. It was pretty great, I must say.

Although we don't generally do anniversary gifts, we did splurge a little this year given the milestone of 10 years. Jeff gave me a beautiful ring and my favorite flowers. I gave him a digital SLR camera. I'm sure you'll be seeing pics from him soon as he is already getting the hang of the camera. Baby Girl BH had better get ready for A LOT of photos. :) And if she is anything like us, she'll be just fine with that.

Beginning to Nest?

It's June! June, people! The baby is due in just 11 weeks. In reality, that isn't that far away. And we have plenty to do during that time. This weekend we started making progress on our very large list. :) A few things we've done...
  • The crib is almost finished! It's all stained and sanded and the final coat of poly is going on tonight. It'll be assembled by Thursday night.
  • A book case has been assembled for Baby BH's toys, books, pics.
  • Clothes and baby items are being organized, hung, put away, etc.

We also want to get some other things cleaned up around the house so we are as organized in life as possible before Baby BH's arrival. On that front...
  • Our pantry has been cleaned and re-organized. This will help us to make some room in a cabinet for baby items.
  • We recently had some cabinetry/shelving installed in our laundry room (there was nothing in there to put anything in/on, which is not very convenient). That is all set up now. We just need some little cafe curtains to hide some things.
  • The coat closet. Yeeaahh...it's organized and cleaned up but still pretty full.
More projects will be in the works! It's pretty exciting work to be doing. Having a baby sure is a great motivator, huh?

Third Trimester!!

A picture just I was reaching the 28 week mark (27w5d)! The belly is getting bigger!

A look back...here I was at 8 weeks:

Currently I am feeling pretty good. I have a little swelling now and then, but nothing too terrible. The heartburn has made a comeback. Baby Girl BH is still moving and kicking around and I still love each time it happens. Jeff can feel her moving, too. Sometimes you can see my belly moving along with her kicks and rolls. It's truly awesome.

At this stage, she can hear us while in the womb so we are starting to read to her and will soon be introducing her to our favorite music. As of Friday, she was 2 lbs 4 oz and looking great!

Babymoon

So. The babymoon. Let's recap...

The struggles:
After driving for 2 hours, returning home b/c the dog sitter couldn't get into the house.
Drunk, fighting, loud, cussing, tried-to-get-into-our room at 4:30am hotel room neighbors.
Insane rain on Saturday.
Insane rain on Sunday.
A 2 hour and 40 minute rain delay at the Cubs game.
Insane rain meant not many cute pics of us.

The highlights:
Delicious vegan meals all over the city (including lots of desserts).
Getting moved to a bigger hotel room after incident with neighbors.
The Field Museum.
Jeff's first game at Wrigley Field! With a home-team win.

Best Part:
Spending time together, just the two of us!

Here are a few pics from the trip (The Field Museum, Baby's First Ballgame, Jeff at Wrigley):
